Two Squads With Top Ten Times, Four Ranked Top 20 at 2013 Youth National Rowing Championships!
By mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 9, 2013, when racing had wrapped-up at Melton Lake, in Oak Ridge, TN, Newport Rowing Club could claim four (4) nationally ranked crews – Men’s Lightweight 4+ (8th), Men’s Heavy 4+ (15th), Women’s Lightweight 4+ (17th) and Women’s Pair (16th).Read more
We were hoping for a weather miracle, and we got it! Despite a bleak weather forecast, the 2013 MidAtlantic District Championship went off without any serious weather events, just a 50 minute weather delay around 4:00p. In fact, most of the day brought calm waters, minimal wind…all-around great rowing conditions! And our athletes took advantage from the very beginning.Read more
Cinco de Mayo proved to be an even bigger reason to celebrate for the crews who traveled to Oyster Bay, NY, for the Long Island Junior Rowing Championships. Despite washed out roads, detours, and storm damage still apparent from Hurricane Sandy, NRC crews performed phenomenally in a very competitive field, collecting 8 medals!Read more
This past weekend, we took some of our Varsity crews to the Saratoga Invitational Regatta, billed as showcasing the best of the East…and it did not disappoint! And unlike previous years (we were told), the weather and race course conditions for the weekend were phenomenal.Read more
Despite the best attempts of the organizers, referees, and competitors, Mercer Sprints racing was cancelled due to excessive wind and chop on the race course. More than 2300 high school athletes were scheduled to race but at 2:45p with the conclusion of the Men’s 3rd Varsity 4+ and escalating high winds, officials finally called the race.Read more

Saturday, February 2, 2013 – Congratulations go out to all NRC athletes who competed at this year’s Main Line Slide, Philadelphia’s Indoor Rowing Championship Regatta! With seven athletes finishing in the top five places in their events, this is the best showing the club has ever had at this regatta.
