DON’T MISS – Rising Seniors Interested in College Rowing
Don’t forget the Independence Day Regatta College Expo on Sunday – July 7th, 2013. This Expo runs 9am to 4pm with a lunch break from noon to 1:30 for college coaches. This is a great opportunity for athletes to speak with different college coaches to begin the recruiting process. Ahtletes should bring information packets that include an academic and rowing resume along with an unofficial high school transcript as handouts to the coaches. This is open to any athlete who is a rising senior.
Last year this event brought over 50 collegiate programs together with 300 students. Check out the impressive list of coaches who will be available to your athletes – http://pennac.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Coaches-Attending-the-College-Expo.pdf
This is a free event, but you’ll need to register at RegattaCentral. Go to the Clubs section and choose Penn AC – register there (https://www.regattacentral.com/clubs).
The expo will take place at the Robert M. Gillin Boathouse (http://www.sjuhawks.com/facilities/stjs-gillin-boathouse.html), which is the boathouse next to where we usually park our boat trailer during regattas. This boathouse is the St. Joe’s Boathouse. This is NOT one of the boathouses along Boathouse Row by the Philadelphia Art Museum. For directions please see http://www.independencedayregatta.com/.
If your athlete is a rising senior, this is an incredible opportunity to get a dialog going with the best coaches in the country.
