It’s hard to believe that we’re already half-way through summer…camps, that is. With three sessions down and three left to go, another group of middle school and high schoolers have been introduced to the sport that we all know and love!
Our week-long sessions start with a review of the “USRowing Safety Video,” followed by learning the parts of the boat, the special language of the sport (e.g., port, starboard, bow, and stern, and “catching a crab” – what?!) and getting familiar with the facilities – our boathouse, boatyard, dock, and more. Day 2 and our campers are ready to row…with the help of our coaches, NRC athletes, and boats adapted to make them more stable and easier to row for our novice rowers.
Each and every day at camp, campers warm-up with stretches, some cardiovascular work and core exercises to get them ready to row. Then it’s off to the water and time to row!
Check out some of the photos from camp! It’s not too late to sign-up – register now!
